Hungarian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From the same root as vezet(“to lead; drive”) + -ér(noun-forming suffix). The root is from Proto-Finno-Ugric*wetä-(“to lead, guide, draw, pull”).[1] Cognates include Finnishvetää. The Finno-Ugric root may be related to Proto-Indo-European*wedʰ-(“to lead”), either as loan or through genetic relationship.[2][3]

- IPA(key): [ˈvɛzeːr]
- Hyphenation: ve‧zér
